Guanajuato is a beautiful colonial city, dating from 1741, in the geographic center of Mexico. It’s a university town with lots of theaters and galleries – but no traffic lights or neon. Modern traffic comes and goes through stone tunnels under the city that are built on the old riverbed. A dam diverted the river making the road system possible. I was captivated by the whimsical, medieval look of this spot.
